Please Stop With The Dancing, Microsoft
Look, I get it, Microsoft. You want to show people who you know how to have fun, that even Microsoft can smile once in a while. But seriously, stop with the dancing routines. Your target audience doesn’t dance. We, at best, sway with the music, but never dance.
As GeekWire points out, the latest nightmare happened earlier this week at the Norwegian Developers Conference where several dancers took the stage and performed to a song with such classy lines as “The words MICRO and SOFT don’t apply to my PENIS! (or vagina)” and “We are here to party and coding is our drug!” Laughter can be heard throughout the video as the attendees stand nearly motionless, likely in shock as if they were witnessing a train wreck in slow motion.
This comes the week after Usher took the stage during Microsoft’s E3 keynote for a nearly equally embarrassing show.
I was sitting in the audience for Usher’s 20120 E3 performance and can attest that most of the gaming industry found the show a bit misplaced; no one got out of their seat as Usher instructed several times. John Biggs said it best, though.
"I really loved seeing Usher on stage at Microsoft's #e3 event!" – Nobody

And of course there is this classic 2009 video of a Microsoft Store breaking out in an not-so-impromptu flash mob-ish dance. At the time I stated the store was trying too hard, but now, three years later, as Microsoft Stores have failed to be capture shoppers like the Apple Stores Redmond is clearly coping, I think they should be applauded for at least trying something.
Please, Microsoft, I beg you. A sweaty Steve Ballmer yelling and jumping around is better for your brand than employing a dance troupe to rally your remaining fans.

Google gives a sneak peek at Chrome for Windows 8′s Metro UI, plans a test release soon
Google vowed that it would adapt Chrome to Metro back in March, and it’s just now providing its first real look at the Windows 8 revamp. Don’t expect a radical remake: it’s Chrome, just in Metro. Even so, the very first test releases will support charms for sharing and other cross-OS features, and they will obey Snap View for tablet-friendly Windows 8 multitasking. Metro support will come in the next Dev channel release for those using the Windows 8 Release Preview. Those of us leery of running a pre-beta web browser on top of a beta OS will have to wait some months to see the finished result. That patience should be rewarded through better touchscreen support and refinements to the overall interface, so by the time the dissenting among us are ready to toss Internet Explorer 10 aside, Chrome will be waiting with open arms.

Qualcomm urges FCC not to require interoperability on 700MHz phones, citing new chip

According to FCC filings, Qualcomm is developing a chip that could resolve interoperability problems on the 700MHz spectrum band, but the issue isn’t fixed yet. The 700MHz block is currently used by AT&T, Verizon, and smaller US carriers, but they operate on different blocks, and regional carriers have complained about not being able to get hardware that operates on their bands or being unable to let their phones roam on larger networks. A new chip apparently being sped through development by Qualcomm, however, could solve these problems. In the filing, Qualcomm said its chip could be configured by manufacturers to work on a carrier’s normal band but roam on a different one. At the same time, it says there are “significant device…

Thomas Dolby’s Wild Ride
The exterior of the Canal Room is a touch jarring in the harsh light of day. The street-level windows of the TriBeCa brick building are plastered with giant, neon posters advertising the venue’s reoccurring theme nights – events with names like “Back to the Eighties Show featuring RUBIX KUBE: The Ultimate ’80s Tribute Band” and “Saved By The ’90s: A Party with The Bayside Tigers.” Checkerboard backgrounds and pictures of Screech abound. And for a moment, I’m worried for Thomas Dolby. It’s hard not to entertain images of the singer being tortured with Teddy Ruxpins, forced to perform 30-year-old songs for a crowd of middle-aged showgoers squeezed into their prom dresses, in defiance of all laws of physics.
Things are much less troubling inside, however. The lights are dim and there’s no neon to be seen – and while Dolby himself is MIA a few hours ahead of the show, a pair of dancers run around the space all steampunked out in corsets and high-heeled boots. One spots our photographer and asks whether we’re there to “shoot the belly dancer.” It’s an interaction I can’t help but relate to Dolby when he finally arrives, off-handedly comparing the whole thing to a traveling circus of sorts. “Actually,” he responds, “it’s quite simple compared to some other show. There’s no video here, only three musicians, so this is the simple version.”
This is the scaled-back version of Dolby’s live show in 2012. For one thing, the tour had to leave its chrome 1930s-era trailer back in Jersey. Apparently it’s just too difficult to get a giant time capsule through the Holland Tunnel. In its absence, Dolby describes the vehicle as appearing to have been “modified by Jules Verne and Nikola Tesla,” adding that it “houses a video suite, which allows anybody from the public to shoot a 30-second message to the future. So, we’ve got a YouTube channel called Time Capsule TV and people are uploading these messages that they shoot in the time capsule and the most popular ones, based on the views and so on, we’ll sort of preserve for posterity, for the future.”

Hollaback Girl (DLC) – Dance Central Hard Gameplay 100% with MMC
Official website: www.mightymecreative.com Facebook: www.facebook.com Twitter: twitter.com Vlog channel: www.youtube.com “Hollaback Girl” by Gwen Stefani on Hard level; song category “Hardcore” in Dance Central using Kinect for Xbox 360. This song is downloadable content, which costs or 240 Microsoft points. Stick around for some outtakes at the end 2:59! This ISH is BANANAS! Enjoy!
Review: Fun routine with quite a few moves that were difficult and consistently hit & miss for me: Broken Arrow, Sphinx, Back-talk, & Pom-poms Down. After watching this, I see that I totally do the Broken Arrow incorrectly with an additional set of arms flips!
Plus, I can’t hold my fingers up the way she does in the Sphinx! LOL! Oh well, all that meant a LOT of NICE instead of flawless ratings! My main critique aside from feeling like the sensor seemed extra picky for this song, was that there was too much repetition of the Step Team move & that it could have incorporated more intricate step variations. Score: 100% 5 Gold Stars For editing, I used Hauppauge HD PVR & Adobe Premiere CS5 for editing the split screen. The camera used to film me is a Nikon D5000. Thanks for your support & for subscribing to the MightyMeCreative channel! -MMC ![]()

2012 MotoCzysz E1pc may set an e-motorbike speed record, our hearts afire
Our first peek at the MotoCzysz E1pc was at the 2010 Isle of Man TT, where the fearsome-looking e-motorbike smashed potential speed limits, even if it didn’t completely rock the two-wheeled establishment. Improvements were made in 2011, but the new 2012 model is the one that’s really poised to upset the cart. The updated E1pc’s most conspicuous changes are on the outside: it tackles the problem of wind resistance at high speeds by bringing on aerodynamic ducts and fins. Inside, torque looks to be down to 162 foot-pounds, but the equivalent to 200 horsepower (twice what we saw in 2010) should more than compensate — and a much upgraded battery cooling system should keep MotoCzysz’ creation running at full bore for considerably longer before rider Michael Rutter has to back off the throttle. That consistent speed may be even more important to MotoCzysz and Rutter than actually winning at the TT Zero race, practice for which starts June 2nd. The Isle of Man very nearly handed over a £10,000 ($ 15,369) prize to the team for breaking a 100MPH average speed barrier for electric bikes last year, and the substantial tweaks could make all the difference.

Chipworks, iFixit tear down the Galaxy S III for all to see, spot iPhone 4S’ camera sensor hanging around
You’ve picked up the Galaxy S III. You’ve grabbed the source code. But you probably like the quad-core monster too much to tear it down, which is why Chipworks and iFixit have taken to disassembling the phone for themselves to look fro any surprises. We certainly knew to expect the Exynos 4 Quad and 2,100mAh battery, but we now know how Samsung is claiming a boost to speed and image quality for the 8-megapixel camera: it’s using the same Sony-made, backside-illuminated CMOS sensor that we’ve seen since the Xperia Arc and made its biggest splash in the iPhone 4S. Just don’t anticipate replacing many components yourself. That 4.8-inch screen is not only permanently attached to the glass, but to the phone frame, leaving any face-first accidents a dicey fix. We’re expecting a few more discoveries once iFixit gives the Galaxy S III a second scan, but the source will give you everything there is to know right now.
