AMD slips to fourth spot as Qualcomm and Samsung capitalize on mobile processor sales

A fall in demand for desktop PCs and continued growth of the smartphone and tablet market saw AMD fall from second to fourth place for microprocessor sales in 2012. According to a new report from IC Insights, Qualcomm and Samsung overtook AMD to reach second and third spot respectively after they both posted year-on-year growth, thanks to increased sales of their ARM-based mobile processors. Intel continued to dominate the market — despite seeing a 1 percent decline last year.

Sprint closes deal to buy US Cellular spectrum, adds 420,000 customers
Sprint was clearly hungry for capacity when it bought spectrum from US Cellular last fall, and it’s at last getting its fill — some of it, at least — by closing the deal today. The carrier has officially taken possession of 20MHz in airwaves across Midwestern cities like Champaign, Chicago and South Bend, as well as 10MHz in St. Louis. The customer handover isn’t quite as grandiose as was mentioned in November, however: Sprint is ultimately adopting 420,000 US Cellular customers, rather than the originally claimed 585,000. It should be a relatively bump-free transition, no matter who’s included in the group. Sprint expects the switch to take several months, and it’s keeping the US Cellular network active while customers go hunting for discounted phones.

Olympus announces PEN E-P5, a Micro Four Thirds camera with 1963 looks and 2013 specs

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it — or fix it, and then undo it all 50 years later. That’s what Olympus is doing with the new PEN E-P5, the company’s latest Micro Four Thirds camera, which looks for all the world like the PEN F from 1963. That’s a good thing, too: the silver and black, metal and leather styling is beautiful, and the camera feels dense and sturdy like any good camera should. It actually looks a lot like the Fujifilm X100S without a viewfinder – again, a very good thing.
Its body may look decades old, but the E-P5 is one of Olympus’ more advanced mirrorless cameras. Much of its technology is taken from the (also beautiful) OM-D E-M5, like the five-axis stabilization system and blistering fast autofocus. The E-P5′s…

Shaolin Warriors Kicking Imaginary Ass In Slow Motion

This is a video of a group of Shaolin Warriors doing all sorts of kicks and punches and flips, all filmed in slow motion. Plus one of them breaks a metal bar over his head at the end. I’d hate to pull the short straw for that stunt. Honestly, I’d hate to pull the short straw on any stunt that involves my head. You only get one, and I’m already disappointed with the shape of it when I shave my hair short. You know how some people say ‘God broke the mold when he made you’? Well my mom says he was probably just low on clay when he made me.

What is the government plan when all jobs are taken over by robots? What will the humans do?
Question by Blue: What is the government plan when all jobs are taken over by robots? What will the humans do?
Well people say US is a service country now. A factory could be ran by robots. Almost any job can be replaced with robots. I am a programmer, studying Artificial intelligence and Stuff. Working on a website which will one day run it self. If someone abuse reports, the system decides. This site when done can be ran by just one person,Me, updating and adding more code. What will the government do when the US gets to a point where all jobs are done by robots? What will the humans do?

Answer by Jim Em
Well, it does seem we’ll need to figure out a way to keep the people in money and happy. Otherwise the robots will be killed off to save the country.
Sounds like Science Fiction? Not really.
