Bipedal humanoid robot designs have distinct advantages that all other forms of robots do not have, notably versatility. A single humanoid robot can theoretically be re-programmed to perform radically different tasks than the last job it was told to do, and still be able to do them well. Much like how a real human can theoretically quit their job as CEO so they can become a police officer (not saying that would be smart).
Film industry is useless, I support creativity but not if industrialist.
I get your point, but must it be a humanoid? Why just not give the robot a design that specifies the job? Think about it, why not make a design that perfects its job more than a human of where it’s design is more of the purpose than appearance. Humanoid is a useless and pointless design.
Yup. The PETMAN was funded by the military. That kind of technology can be improved upon to be put into the film industry, and can be used to replace human involvement in dangerous or potentially dangerous situations such as the job of a vulcanologist (i.e., the study of volcanoes.) or deep mining. If a robot could be sent to do the work of a miner instead of a human, then cave-ins would simply mean the loss of a robot than the loss of a life. Not the best examples, but I hope you get my point.
How? One word: Military.
OK then, mister engineer. How about you search for PETMAN on YouTube? I suppose that is useless too?
Humanoid-like is completely useless, they do not need a gimmick to do work.
Working on robots to do THIS is completely useless for advancement in humanity. Why not create a basic design that does do dangerous work too much for people, that can also fix itself. No, we are making robots that do this, nothing useful that will never truly be an advancement.
Humanoid Robots are a terrible design, keep it basic where it is more efficient to do work than eye-candy.

Movie production, animations, advanced robotics, and a humanoid-like robot to take on jobs too dangerous for normal humans.
The benefits of humanoid robots are endless. This one is just a display model that can’t even walk.
